Universiteit Antwerpen

The Universiteit Antwerpen (University of Antwerp) is one of the foremost universities in Belgium. As part of the Biology Department in the Faculty of Science, I have been a member of the Functional Morphology Lab (or FunMorph) since 2014. Thefunmorph lab has a vibrant workforce, with multiple PhD students and post-doctoral researchers under the umbrella of two renowned professors: Prof. Dr. Peter Aerts (Biomechanics and Functional Anatomy) and Prof. Dr. Raoul Van Damme (Functional Ecomorphology and Behavioural Evolution).

My work has been performed under the promotion of Prof. Aerts and the supervision of my day-to-day supervisor and co-promotor: Dr. Sandra Nauwelaerts. Dr. Nauwelaerts has been the main researcher spearheading the perissodactyl research group for the FunMorph lab, using her experience with equine locomotor biomechanics to promote research on modern and extinct horses and tapirs via numerous masters and PhD students.
